Purpose of WIC
To give children the best possible start by providing optimal
nutrition during critical development stages.
Services WIC Offers
• Nutrition education
• Breast-feeding support and education
• WIC foods (formula, milk, cereal, cheese, peanut butter, beans,
eggs and juice)
• Referrals to a variety of health and social services
Who is Eligible?
• Pregnant women
• Breast-feeding women
• Postpartum women
• Infants
• Children younger than 5
Eligibility Requirements
• Meet income guidelines
• Have a nutrition-related health problem
• Be a resident of Texas
